Current projects
Fuel Ethanol Technology
The company has researched and lodged patent coverage for a novel process for the production of fuel alcohol from carbohydrate- containing feedstocks, and is currently developing the process for early commercial implementation, supported by major Australian ASX listed companies and an Australian Government Commercial Ready IR&D Grant.
Biodiesel from Autotrophic Algae
The Company has resumed R&D commenced in the early 1990’s aimed at developing a novel industrial process to produce lipids and biomass from autotrophic algae. The main focus of the current R&D is selection of specific high performance algal strains, laboratory optimisation of lipid production in continuous culture, and scale up to pilot and commercial plant operations. Patent coverage has been lodged.
Functional Food/ Nutraceuticals Technology
Development of novel food/beverage products with nutraceutical or enhanced functional properties.
The first products were commercialised in November 2006 via a new company specifically established for the purpose (Australian Functional Foods Pty Ltd). Commercialisation has been assisted by a $150,000 FPRAP grant from the Australian Government Department of Agriculture Fisheries and Forestry.
Reduced Alcohol Wine Technology
Development of novel technology for producing premium quality reduced alcohol (6-8% v/v ethanol) dry wines, red or white.
A provisional patent has been lodged covering the basic technology, which involves manipulation of the yeast metabolism (non-genetic) so as to produce reduced alcohol wine de novo, rather than removing alcohol, while simultaneously compensating for the loss of organoleptic properties attributable to reduced alcohol content.
